Paramore

Paramore "Brand New Eyes" 2009

Careful: This is a great song to start the album off with, it's classic Paramore. If you like Misery Business you'll love this song too. I don't think i've ever heard one Paramore song where the lyrics weren't absolutely amazing, and Careful isn't an exception.

Ignorance: Ignorance is the first single off of Brand New Eyes and if you've heard it then you have only heard a preview of this amazing record. Hayley Williams in my opinion has one of the most original and beatiful voices I've ever heard. She has an edge to her that most people only dream of having. This is the perfect song to listen to when someone is trying to make you look like the bad person and you're just flat out sick of it. If you're going through something like that then this is your anthem.

Playing God: Are you sick of people telling you how you should act when they aren't the best they could be. Basically they're being a hypocrite? This song says exactly what you're feeling. "You don't have to believe me. But the way I, way I see it..Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back and break it, break it off. Next time you point a finger i'll point you to the mirror." One of the reasons I think I love this song is because usually with lyrics like this its a slow paced song, all sad and depressing. People are telling me how to act blah blah blah. But with Paramore and this song you get the meaningfull lyrics and a song that makes you want to jump and kick things.

Brick By Boring Brick: Do you believe in fairytales? Neither does Paramore. Things aren't always going to be what you want them to be when it comes to finding "the one." My interpretation of this song is that you can't expect a prince because it's just not going to happen. There is no such thing as "prince charming" and once you grow up and realize that you'll be better off. "Well you built up a world of magic, because your real life is tragic. Yeah you built up a world of magic. If it's not real you can't hold it in your hand. You can't feel it with your heart. And I won't believe it. But if it's true you can see it with your eyes even in the dark. And thats where I want to be yeah. Go get your shovel. We'll dig a deep hole to bury the castles."

Turn It Off: Im a fan of this song because I agree with what its saying. Things are going to get worse before they get better usually, it's not fair but it's life. Things aren't always sunshine and happiness and thats what this song is saying.

The Only Exception: Most love songs are all about how great things are when you're with the person. It's all love love love from begining to end. That's why I think I love this song because with this song love love love from begining to end is not the case at all. In the begining of the song Hayley sings that her daddy has a broken heart and she watches as he tries to put it back together. Then she says she promised herself that day that she would never sing about love if it does not exist. The next part of the song shes says "But darling, you are the only exception." If you've ever felt as if love doesn't conquer all and it's not real, but then you found someone who makes you feel like the stories of true love are real, then heres your song.

Feeling Sorry: Have you ever waited around for someone to apologize for something and they just won't? You're sick of staying in the past and you just want to move forward? Well here you go. Written by Hayley Williams, Josh Farro, and Taylor York this song says everything that you're feeling about moving on. "And i'm getting bored, waiting around for you. We're not getting any younger and I won't look back 'cause theres no use. It's time to move forward."

Looking Up: Im a fan of this song because it's all about how sometimes you are just about to quit and then you realize that you shouldn't because you are just getting started. Hayley Williams said in her music journal, "Last year when we cancelled our "U.K. Riot" tour and went home I didn't know if we'd get back on the road. I sort of thought we'd run our course and it was all over. All because of failed relationships, frienships we stopped caring about each other. I started playing music for a living instead of living for playing music." She goes on to say, "Somewhere between then and now, we've grown up a little bit. I've realized it's not bad that im an individual. We all have our own thing and now we've got it. 'I can't believe we almost hung it up, we're just getting started.'"

Where The Lines Overlap: There are so many songs about long distance relationships and how they all fail and they aren't worth it. I've read that Hayley said this song is "About long distance relationships with a positive outlook." If you're in a long distance relationship and you're sick of only hearing the negative things then listen to Where The Lines Overlap.

Misguided Ghosts: Misguided Ghosts is a hauntingly beautiful song. I feel like they are talking about life yes but not just regular life. To me it's about someone who feels empty and lost. The vocals and melody on this track are beautiful. One of the most meaningful songs on this album. "Misguided ghosts, travelin' endlessly. The ones we trusted most pushed us far away. And theres no one road. We should not be the same." The simplicity of this melody mixed with the powerful lyrics makes it eerie and breathtaking.

All I Wanted: You know that feeling when you're in love and the person means everything in the world to you. Great. Now do you know the feeling when that person moves on and to you it feels like it was a dream. As if it had never happened. This song will bring tears to your eyes if you feel that way. The vocals are absolutely amazing on this track, Hayley Williams is unbelievable, absolutly unbelievable!
